Unhelmeted Motorcyclists Face Heavy Fines: Stay Safe and Avoid Penalties

RAWALPINDI - In a significant move to enhance road safety and enforce traffic regulations, the traffic police in Punjab have decided to escalate fines for motorcyclists caught riding without helmets, as reported by ARY News.

The decision was reached during a meeting chaired by Additional Inspector General of Police (AIG) Traffic, Mirza Faran Baig. This virtual meeting also had the participation of chief traffic officers (CTOs) and district traffic officers from various regions.

During the deliberations, it was unanimously agreed that the fine for motorcyclists found without helmets would be substantially increased, soaring from the current Rs200 to a substantial Rs2,000. This stern order will be applicable across the entirety of Punjab.

AIG Mirza Faran Baig emphasized the importance of rigorous action against motorcycle riders who neglect wearing helmets. The primary objective of this crackdown on unhelmeted riders is to preserve lives and ensure road safety for all.

In compliance with court orders, a hefty fine of Rs2,000 will be imposed on motorcyclists failing to adhere to helmet regulations, further underscoring the authorities' commitment to safeguarding public welfare.

In addition to the crackdown on helmet violations, the authorities are also increasing fines for illegal parking. The fine for unauthorized parking will be significantly raised from Rs500 to Rs5,000, sending a strong message to deter parking violations.

Furthermore, AIG Mirza Faran Baig issued directives for officers to take strict measures against vehicles emitting smoke, as part of broader efforts to combat smog and environmental pollution. Ensuring the implementation of traffic rules in all cases is a key priority to prevent accidents and enhance road safety.

AIG Mirza Faran Baig also instructed the traffic police to expand the network of service centers and driving schools throughout the province. This expansion aims to facilitate the public and ensure that individuals have access to the necessary resources to become responsible and law-abiding drivers.

These initiatives demonstrate the unwavering commitment of the traffic police in Punjab to enhance road safety, deter traffic violations, and ultimately create a safer and more responsible road environment for all citizens. Stay tuned for further updates on these developments as they unfold.
