Court Sends Notices to Qamar Bajwa and Faiz Hameed

Islamabad High Court Issues Notices to FIA, Retired Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa, and Faiz Hameed Over Alleged Violation of Legal Bindings

ISLAMABAD - In a startling development, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) has sent shockwaves through the nation by issuing notices to prominent figures, including retired General Qamar Javed Bajwa and Faiz Hameed, following a petition that alleges violations of legal obligations. The court has also summoned renowned journalists Javed Chaudhry and Shahid Maitla, alongside PEMRA and the Press Association of Pakistan, over a petition seeking the registration of a case against Bajwa, Hameed, and others.

Chief Justice Aamir Farooq delivered a written court order in response to a citizen's plea, Atif Ali, who fervently demanded the registration of a case with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for what he claims is the flouting of legal obligations post-retirement and the misinterpretation of various events.

The court order revealed that the petitioner had tirelessly requested the court's intervention for case registration, but no action was taken. The petitioner's lawyer urged the court to issue an order to the FIA for immediate action in this matter.

According to the petitioner, "Two articles were penned solely for the sake of viewership, which had a profoundly negative impact on society." He expressed astonishment at the content, describing it as evidence of a "mafia polluting society."

He further asserted, "A criminal attitude has emerged under the guise of freedom of expression, prompting me to apply for case registration." The petitioner believes that various events were wrongfully and inaccurately interpreted, portraying a detrimental image of an institution under the banner of journalism to attract attention.

In light of these incidents, the petitioner contends that it was an attempt to sow seeds of mistrust between the public and these institutions.

The petitioner has now implored the court to direct the Director-General of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to register a First Information Report (FIR) regarding this matter, setting the stage for a potentially significant legal battle in the days to come. Stay tuned for further developments as this story unfolds.
